Organized by dedicated professionals who have a passion for serving our community's most vulnerable populations, especially families with socioeconomic disadvantages. EOL operates 3 main programs. 1) Whole Wellness Strategies 4 Life (WWS4L) our holistic mental, physical and emotional health initiatives. WWS4L offers free health screenings, health and wellness seminars, workshops activities and free meals to families, seniors, disabled persons, and veterans. 2) Seed of Life Community Nutrition, our community feeding program offers healthy food boxes and prepared meals delivered to seniors, disabled and veterans struggling with food inequity. 3) Zoe Providence our youth program for children ages 3-17 promoting physical activity and teaches STEM based nutrition and healthy eating. We use our resources to address identified areas negatively impacting health and wellness. We offer strong follow-up services ensuring strategies offered sufficiently amend client's health and wellness concerns. We physically meet people where they are (home, community centers, churches etc.) and spiritually and mentally (sometime during crisis). We help clients make different life choices to improve their personal health and wellness that builds liberating sustainability. Our goal is to offer supports that progressively help clients maintain virtuous personal health & wellness.

The history of Expressions of Life Inc. (EOL) starts in 2007. With growing food insecurity in Dayton, Ohio coupled with many families losing their jobs at local manufacturing plants EOL was formed to fill a need. We started with one event per year. Our annual Christmas Dinner offered families affected by GM layoffs, children with developmental disabilities, children of incarcerated parents, families living in emergency and homeless shelters and individuals in reentry and drug treatment programs a free homemade dinner prepared by EOL and employees of local home health care agencies. All families in attendance took home gifts and gift cards for their personal Christmas celebration. EOL continued to serve the Christmas dinner for four years. In 2012, Expressions of Life received our federal recognition as a charitable organization. We started building partnership and establishing mindful collaboration with other local not profits and human service agencies. We dedicated six years to serving other nonprofit organization with a common mission.
After years of serving others and supporting other nonprofits we started restructuring our programs and services to reflect the changing trends and patterns within the community Our people were dying at an alarming rate! EOL had to figure out how to better serve families struggling with socio-economic disadvantages specifically families living in food deserts and affected by recognized health disparities and the opioid epidemic. Then in 2019, our community suffered several traumatic events inclusive of the start of the COVID-19 pandemic which really tested EOL’s resolve to serve. We ramped up! EOL had to make hard pivots to continue our mission. We served meals to those affected by the tornadoes, and we counseled family members, friends, and business owners affected by the Oregon District shooting.
EOL was dislocated twice in 2020 due to the pandemic and we continued to serve. With our dedicated volunteers maxed out by the sheer volume of services we were expressed the need for help and quite honestly EOL Board of Directors and Executive Director knew we would not thrive if we did not get some paid help, with no foreseeable personnel budget we stepped out on faith and hired our first employee in June of 2020. The Board of Directors and the Executive Director donated personal funds to ensure we could pay at least one person with the hopes that this one person would enable us to continue to serve.
